Argentina and its Regional Diversity
The course studies the formal geographical regions of the Argentine territory and biogeography. Will consider the process of settlement of different regions, ecoregions, the excesses of nature and policies of environmental preservation of the Argentine state, among other topics.

A Socioeconomic Perspective on Latin America
It consists of an approach to the great Latin American regions according to the distribution of population, quality of life and poverty. Other issues covered: the landless social movement, Latin American megalopolis, the new reality of rural areas, and South America’s integration in the Southern Cone Common Market, known as “Mercosur”.

An Introduction to Argentine Film
The course aims at studying Argentina’s film production since its origins. Students will learn how content and quality of production were linked to the country’s political processes as well as to extension of the territory and cultural diversity.

Contemporary Argentine Art
The course relates art history to cultural history from the perspective of sociology of art.
It aims at studying the characteristics of Argentine art and how it defines itself in the international context. The relationship between visual arts, audiovisual arts and music will be specially considered.

Latin American Art
This is an approach to some key moments in the historical process of development of art forms in the region. Topics include the relationship between characteristic features of national cultures and other tendencies of the region, pre-Columbian cultural forms and colonial art, art crafts at the time of national independence movements, development of modern art programs, plastic arts in the second half of the 20th century, and, finally, current debates about identity in Latin American art.

Economic and urban geography of Argentina
The course studies territorial aspects of productive activities in Argentina (social and environmental impacts, regional economies, development centers, etc.) and urban space (origin and development of cities, socio-territorial inequalities, segregation, urban poverty, etc.. ).
