Spanish as a Foreign Language Exam
CELU (Certificado de Español: Lengua y Uso)

Once PECLA students have attained Spanish language level intermediate or advanced, they can take the CELU exam. There are special exam dates for UNC students at the beginning of each semester in March and August.

CELU is the Argentine international certificate of Spanish as a foreign language issued by a university consortium on behalf of the National Ministry of Education to certify level of proficiency of non-native speakers. The exam is been taken in Argentina, Brazil and differente European and Asian venues.

The development of the CELU exam was based on the concept of language in usage as opposed to theoretical learning by means of memorizing rules. The exam meets the needs of speakers who want to learn Spanish as it is used in real situations in every day, academic, and professional contexts.
